I am a proud 1970 graduate of Magdalena High School and the mother of 3 grown children who also attended Magdalena High. I hold a BS degree from ENMU, plus 45 hours of graduate classes at UNM.
After teaching Language Arts/English for 25 years at Magdalena Municipal Schools, I was elected to serve on the Magdalena School Board in 2014. My other teaching experiences include 6 years at Alamo Navajo School and 8 years at Washington Middle school in Albuquerque. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to serve in rural, Native and urban schools, where I had the privilege of getting to know many wonderful, memorable colleagues and students over the years; I value the many lifelong friendships I have made among them.
Serving on the Magdalena Board has been a fulfilling experience. It has allowed me to use my years of educational experience to help make the Magdalena District stronger and more successful year by year. I have found it rewarding to remain active in education. I have taken advantage of over 100 hours in valuable training offered by the New Mexico School Board Association in order to become a more effective board member
Being a board member is a challenging and demanding task, but it has also been a rewarding, impactful experience for me personally. I’d like to thank our community for the privilege of serving on the Magdalena Board and I am honored to be a part of the leadership in this outstanding and amazing district.
